THE SLUMCODE GROUP
ABOUT US
Message From the Founder
The Slumcode Group, a Community Based Organization, located in the heart of Huruma, a densely populated residential town in Nairobi - Kenya, was formed with the aim to facilitate community development through resource mobilization and equal distribution of resources to help uplift the living standards of members of this community.
With the Youth particulary in Mind, our target motto is - Exploring Opportunities - Empowering Communities.
Registered under the Ministry of Gender Sports Culture and Social Services, our organization operational since January 2006 and officially launched in August, has surpassed milestones through a series of events we have organized and been a great part of including Usafi na Mitaa: a clean up campaign during our launch, a tree planting in support of the One Billion tree project by Nobel Lauriette Prof. Wangari Maathai in collaboration with National Environmental Management Authority and lately The Grand Slumfest - a very successful open day forum with stakeholders who have played a major role in community development. Among the attendee guests we Mr. Peter Mathenge - Director COWA, Mr. Geoffrey Otieno - Business Development Manager Nokia-Siemens Network, Ms. Patricia Sudi - TakingITglobal country facilitator and Mwaura Kaara - Millenium Campaign amongst a host of other dignitaries.
Our success is based on practical youth involvement and individual commitment towards acheivement of our goals is our stepping stone.
Currently with a membership of 15 (7 Ladies and 8 Gentlemen) all actively involved in the day to day running of the grops affairs.
As each member is an integral partner, each is endowed with capabilities of initiating local income based ideas in to the group. This inspires all to participate and interact with pride.
We are currently majoring in facilitation of growth and development through sourcing for training and empowerment initiatives for the entire community. Advice and information on available opportunities is much welcome. Any interested parties are asked to send us email through the address below and it will be upon us to follow up and implement any offers availed to our centre.
